BISHOP O’HIGGINS

This sculpture was composed to commemorate the extraordinary achievements of this local man who initiated the building of Longford Cathedral, supported Daniel O’Connell in his struggle for Catholic Emancipation and coordinated aid during the Great Famine in Ireland in the mid 19th Century.
